Jason Sangha Q&A

Updated: Apr 11, 2021

Current Teams

NSW, Sydney Thunder, Randwick-Petersham 1st Grade

Favourite Player + Why?

ABD. Revolutionised 360 degree playing. The way he manipulates the fields and hits the ball wherever he wants is incredible.

Proudest Cricket Moment?

Scoring my hundred against England is pretty close, but scoring my first hundred for NSW meant a lot more Always wanted to play for NSW as a kid and to score a hundred was icing on the cake.

Most Embarrassing Moment on the Field?

Shaking the bowlers hand after I hit a boundary to win the game (so I thought), we ended up still needing 1 more run... lucky I got the runs but I was pretty scared of getting out.

Funniest Team Mate?

I find everyone really funny in their own ways, but in terms of pure joking making and carry on, Harry Conway leads it.

Hobbies Outside of Cricket?

Still trying to find out some hobbies outside of cricket. Basketball is defiantly up there, both playing and watching. Trying to get into piano now as I’m a massive music lover.

One Thing You Would Tell Your 13 Year Old Self?

Good question. There is so much I’d tell my 13 year old self. But I’ve always wanted to play for NSW since I was 13, so I’d say “hang in there, you’re so close”. But I’ve gone through patches of my career where I haven’t loved the game as much as I did when I was 13. So surprisingly, sometimes I wish I could be my 13 year old self when I’m playing. Because when I was 13 I was so passionate and so naive to everything else around me. As cricket gets more and more serious up the levels, you tend to put more pressure on yourself

Player You Have Learnt the Most From?

I’ve learned so much from so many different players, and the BBL is one time of the year where you get to chat to internationals and gain some knowledge. But for me, Nick Larkin and Moises Henriques are two guys at NSW who I’ve really leaned towards and they’ve always helped me from a cricket/life space

Fastest Spell of Bowling You Have Ever Faced?

I was 13 and playing in Newcastle First Grade Comp when I had to face Mark Cameron (Ex NSW fast bowler). He used to bowl absolute thunderbolts back in his day for NSW, so when he came back to Newcastle to play grade cricket, and I was only 13. That was terrifying.

What is the Best Wicket You Have Ever Played On?

I’ve fortunately played on some amazing cricket pitches. SCG and Adelaide Oval are two of my absolute favourites. But it’s also really hard to go past Coogee oval on a summers day after the tea break.

Jason scoring 100 against a touring Ashes side.
